He has presented research at international conferences and worked on the dating of the Kurukṣetra War. An artist and creator of digital holograms, he founded Dharma Digital to promote Dharma using Virtual Reality and AI.
Ms. Dena is the Chair of the International Advisory Committee for Auroville. She began her inter-faith work in the late 1990s, serving as Vice Chair of the Millennium World Peace Summit at the UN in 2000. In 2002, she founded the Global Peace Initiative of Women (GPIW) and helped create the Contemplative Alliance in 2008. A devoted student of Paramahansa Yogananda and Kriya Yoga for over 40 years, she has also studied the Vedic tradition. A Columbia University graduate, she received the Niwano Peace Prize in 2014 and an Honorary Doctorate in Peace Studies from MCU, Thailand. She is the author of several books, including My Journey Through Time, The Untold Story of Sita, When the Bright Moon Rises, Rukmini and the Turning of Time, and To Dance with Dakinis.

Late Prof KV Rangaswami Aiyangar is a well respected Dharmic scholar and a Professor in History and Economics from 20th century India. Some of his published works include 'Some Aspects of Ancient Indian Polity' , 'Aspects of Ancient Indian Economic Thought' etc. Some of the works that he reconstructed and edited include 'Vyavahara Nirnaya of Varadaraja', 'Brhaspati Smrti', 'Lakshmidhara's Krtya Kalpataru' and several others. This lecture will particularly focus on his book 'Rajadharma' (University of Madras Lectures from 1938) and his masterful introduction to 'Rajadharma Kanda' of Lakshmidhara Bhatta's Krtya Kalpataru.

The concept of Kaliyuga has been used as the sheet anchor for the reconstruction of Indian chronology for at least the last 1500 years. Traditional belief links the start of the Kaliyuga to the Mahabharata War, dating it to 3102 BCE. However, most researchers have leveraged the Puranic literature for Kaliyuga whilst ignoring the Mahabharata text. This talk aims to contribute to a clearer understanding of the Kaliyuga’s onset and its relation to the dating of the Mahabharata War.

This talk is a critical reflection on Prof. Madhav Gadgil’s latest book - “A Walk Up the Hill - Living with People and Nature”. Prof. Madhav Gadgil is one of India’s best-known ecologists. He is a Padma Shri and a Padma Bhushan awardee. In this talk his book will be looked at from a Dharma-Ecology-Economy lens. A particular emphasis will be laid on how traditional societies and knowledge systems viewed their relationship with 'Nature' and what changed in the Indian context with the advent of industrial modernity post the British colonial epoch. No discussion on tradition in the Indian context can evade the topic of 'Caste'. Some reflections on the topic of 'Caste and Ecology' based on Prof. Gadgil's book will also be shared during the course of this talk.

About the Speaker: Dr. Sattigeri is Scientist-H and Head, CSIR-Traditional Knowledge Digital Library Unit. The TKDL is a tool for defensive protection of Indian Traditional Knowledge, currently the Indian systems of medicine. The TKDL currently contains information of about 4.6 lakh formulations and practices from Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, Sowa Rigpa and Yoga. Dr. Sattigeri has initiated steps for expanding the scope and user base of the TKDL. At CSIR, she had also handled matters pertaining to strategic planning, monitoring and decision and policy insights. Prior to CSIR, she was associated with the New Drug Discovery Research at Ranbaxy Research Laboratories Ltd. She has led inter-disciplinary teams in her various roles.

This abstract emphasizes the intricate interplay of academia, politics, and policy in yoga, advocating for a nuanced approach to respect its cultural heritage and promote a comprehensive global understanding.
The talk will examine the complex relationship between humour and religion through the prism of Indian stand-up comedy and its representation of Hindus and Hinduism. Based on Professor Vamsee Juluri’s concept of Media Hinduphobia, we present our analysis of fifty two Indian stand-up comedy routines from 2015-2021 to delve into the nature of humour on Hindus and Hinduism. This research was selected for presentation at the annual conference organized by the Institute for Religion, Media, and Culture and held at the Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany in August 2023.
